Meet your Golf Guru
Dr. Kiran Kanwar, Ph.D., LPGA Master Professional, is one of golf’s most scientifically qualified instructors. A former winner of the National Championship (All India Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship) and India’s first female golf instructor, Dr. Kanwar is the only person known to have both developed, and academically researched, a golf swing system.
She holds an M.S. in Sports Science and Nutrition from a chiropractic school, and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology (Biomechanics, Anatomy, Motor Control) with the minor in Anatomy from a medical school.
Dr. Kanwar served as Project Manager and Chief Biomechanist for the R&A-funded “Golf for Healthy Aging” study at the University of Southern California’s Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.

ABOUT THE MINIMALIST GOLF SWING SYSTEM
You slice the ball because your backswing weight shift is incorrect and you get stuck on your trail (right, for a right-handed golfer) side, which makes you spin around on that leg and come over the top. The Minimalist Golf Swing minimizes backswing weight-shift so that you are never stuck on your trail leg.
You hit your ball low because your body moves up and down too much and you make contact with the top of the ball (i.e. top it) at impact. Or because your clubface is delofted (facing the ground more) at impact. PLAYER CONCERNS
You will receive specific instructions for your setup, backswing and downswing. Practice begins without a club, until you are comfortable with the new movements.Then you will make swings with a club, and finally hit balls. By the end of your first lesson, you will have an excellent idea of what is required and make several great shots. At the end of the package of lessons, you will be able to self-diagnose your errors.
Because the setup triggers the required backswing, you won’t get “stuck between swings.” I will also support your learning by a) analyzing videos that you send before and after each lesson, b) videos taken by me during the online lesson and c) notes listing clear checkpoints and simple cues to stay consistent.
Every principle is based on published research and my extensive education in biomechanics, anatomy, and motor control. My findings from 32 years of swing-research are also incorporated. It’s the only golf swing system that has been considerably validated by scientific method.
LESSONS AND PACKAGES
Step 1. After booking your lesson via yourgolfguru.com/lessons, you send in one down-the-line and one face-on video of your current swing with a club of your choice.
Step 2. Your virtual (via Whatsapp) OR in-person evaluation consists of biomechanical and anatomical swing analyses and is conducted via an assessment of your gait, posture and some golf-specific movements.
Step 3. The rationale of the Minimalist Golf Swing is explained to you in very simple terms
Step 4. You practice the required movements a) without a club b) with a club and no ball c) with balls (foam, if the lesson is virtual)
Step 5. You work on what you have learned and send (for virtual lessons) one down-the-line and one face-on video of the new positions and movements using the same club as used in Step 1.
Step 6. You receive an evaluation of what you did well and what needs further improvement as well as a list of all the essential steps of the set-up, backswing and downswing for future reference.
- Your smartphone and WhatsApp.

Once we agree on a start date, sessions are scheduled at mutual convenience, at least twice per week, ideally completing all five lessons within three weeks.
